Glaser is a journalist and it shows. This is just such an interesting book on the subject or at least --interesting to a reader who is interested in the topic. It's a well-annotated, easy to read, concise story that tells you that there are a whole bunch of women out there drinking a lot more than you know because they can and because they're stressed. Equally important is the drill-down on AA as a treatment option. Not only does it leave women in the lurch --the 12 steps aren't particularly helpful to women looking for ways to change their drinking behavior and in a disturbing number of cases --meetings are places that attract sexual predators. Yes, take pause. And advocate for options that work for women. ( )
