We love reading this every Christmas Eve and it will always be a part of our Christmas celebration no matter how old my children get. ( ) I liked the book “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement C. Moore. One reason I liked this book was because of the writing. This book describes what is happening throughout the story very well. The reader can imagine what is going on in the story. “When out on the lawn here rose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash. Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.” In this part of the story, the reader can understand that something happened outside so the guy is getting out of bed and going to the window to see what is happening. Another aspect of this book that I liked was the illustrations. On most pages there was wording on one page and a picture that took up the whole page on the other. The illustrations look like they are drawn with pastel colors but are drawn in great detail. In the part of the story when Santa comes down the chimney, he is drawn in great detail. The picture shows the wrinkles on his fore head and suit. The illustration also shows the fur that surrounds his coat. If a page did not have a full page colored illustration, each page had a little picture above or below the words depicting something that happened in that part of the story. “And then in a twinkling I heard on the roof the prancing and pawing of each little hoof.” There is no full page illustration for this part of the story so under the words the illustrator drew a picture of the roof of the house with a chimney in black and white. The big idea of this story is to keep your imagination and creativity. Anything can happen. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
