The Teeny- Tiny Woman by Paul Galdone is a folktale about a teeny-tiny woman. The teeny-tin woman stumbles upon a bone and plans to cook it. She never gets to cook the bone, because she ends up getting sleepy. The teeny-tiny woman is woken up several times from a voice inside the chest, coming from the bone, Finally she screams in her biggest tiny voice to take the bone. The writer chose repetition for this book, using the words "teeny-tiny" over and over again. Originally, this story was to be a ghost tale, but I didn't get that from this story. To me, the repetition was a bit much, but I know children would really enjoy this. This story is a spooky ghost tale of a teeny-tiny woman who is hungry and searches for food in the graveyard. She only can find a bone to eat. She heads home and places the bone in the bare cupboard and goes to sleep. In the middle of the night, she hears a voice beckoning for the bone. Terrified, she pulls the blanket over her head. The voice continues to get louder and louder until she puts the bone in the cupboard. The text of this story would be great to use for word repetition and inferring. The illustrations set an eerie tone throughout the book which is fitting, as it is a ghost tale. However, I found the actual plot a bit confusing. She places the bone in the cupboard and then replaces the bone in the cupboard again. For me, it did not make sense because she never removed the bone. I would consider this a conditional text and only used for a specific purpose such as rereading. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I love Galdone's illustrations, but the text of his versions of classic stories is mediocre.
