This picture book is about a hole in the ground where a tree starts to grow. The tree has many beautiful features growing on it including a beautiful branch, a nest, an egg, and a bird. The illustrations are used with bright water paint colors. The animals in the background of the story were really well drawn and painted. The text was interesting. It had a picture of the "tree" instead of having the word "tree." At the end of the book, the song "There Was a Tree" lyrics were featured. This book is a great way to show the outcome of nature and what a tree is. A teacher can use this book when having a nature lesson plan. ( )
