I kind of guessed what the ultimate solution would be long before this volume was finished but still wound up really enjoying this series, the art and writing were excellent through out, the characters are really what drove this story for me, interesting and I was invested in their hopes and dreams. ( ) I was disappointed in the end of this series. I knew it would end, but this weirdly? Or badly? It wasn't quite as I expected. The whole Xitalu-end-of-the-world kind of thing? A little over the top. Not that the series wasn't already "over the top" but this just didn't work for me. I preferred Gwen's quieter, more "normal" brain-eating zombie life. Also, I didn't like it when some of the story was drawn "cartoony". Still, the series as a whole was fun and entertaining, just a bit of a mess at the end. Darn. This series went from really cool to really bizarre in the span of one volume. I enjoyed the original premise of a sentient, gravedigging zombie who gains someone's memories from eating their brains. The light detective work and the campy Scooby-Doo vibe were what made the first couple of volumes so great. It was so much fun that I could overlook the piling on of characters and plotlines in the third volume. But by the fourth, there were too many loose ends that weren't going to be tied up, and the addition of Xitalu, the cosmic big bad, felt out of place. I didn't much enjoy the first volume, but I had checked out all four volumes from the library so I plowed on through to the bitter end. And once you unleash Lovecraftian elder gods, boy, are you going to make me bitter. The other week my daughter mentioned to me that I'm not required to read a book just because I checked it out of the library. It's not a legal obligation, she pointed out. I need to listen to her more. I should have cut my losses after the first volume. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Told from a female zombie's perspective, iZOMBIE is a smart, witty detective series with a mix of urban fantasy and romantic dramedy. Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dylan is a 20-something gravedigger in an eco-friendly cemetery. Once a month she must eat a human brain to keep from losing her memories, but in the process she becomes consumed with the thoughts and personality of the dead person-until she eats the next brain. She sets out to fulfill the dead person's last request, solve a crime, or right a wrong. Once upon a time, Gwen's biggest concerns were finding a brain to snack on and worrying whether her boyfriend would find out she was a zombie. Now, with undead secret agents and monster hunters teaming up to stop a mad scientist from bringing about the end of the world, and her friends stuck right in the middle of it, Gwen has bigger problems on her hands. But can a girl help save the world without losing everything in the world she loves? Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
