This was another great Pride and Prejudice Variation by KaraLynne Mackrory. I love all the characters and the way she writes them. The story was a lot of fun to read and I enjoyed seeing how the relationships between Lizzy & Darcy as well as Jane & Bingley develop and evolve throughout the book. Mr. Bennet and Colonel Fitwilliam were also a lot of fun and I love their personalities in this book. I look forward to reading more by this author. For Mr. Darcy by KaraLynn Mackrory is an adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Mackrory explores the idea of what would happen if Mr. Darcy let go of his pride and told people about George Wickham's scandalous behavior before Wickham could charm his way into the hearts of Merryton, if Darcy never interfered with Bingley and Jane's relationship, and if he behaved in "a more gentleman-like manner" towards Elizabeth. You might think that by doing these things, it would eliminate any problems in the story. However Darcy's honorable actions causes a whole new set of problems. Wickham becomes desperate and his actions more deplorable than in the original Pride and Prejudice. Darcy is still enamored with Elizabeth but is torn between what he thinks is his duty and what his heart wants. I love that Mackrory makes use of some of the minor characters from P&P in this book. Mr Bennet is his usual witty self, Mr. Collins is still abhorrent, and Colonel Fitzpatrick is still very charming. The author does play around with their story lines a bit to make everything more interesting. This is a really good adaptation of the original story. I really like the direction that the author took this book. I've often wondered what would happen if Darcy had done things differently. Mackrory answered my questions and more in Falling For Mr. Darcy. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
The simple truth is proven that sometimes a gentleman never knows his heart until a lady comes along to introduce it to him. When Mr. Darcy encounters Elizabeth Bennet injured after a fall, his concern for her welfare cracks the shell of his carefully guarded heart, and a charming man emerges. Elizabeth sees an appealing side of him she never believed possible from the stoic, proud master of Pemberley. They find the simple gentlemanly act of assisting her home will test both Mr. Darcy's resolve to keep his heart safe and Elizabeth's conviction that this is the last man on earth she might have ever been prevailed upon to marry. Soon, falling for Mr. Darcy becomes a real possibility. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
