When Nathan is found brutally murdered Morgan sets out to find the people responsible. Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a fast paced and gritty account of how one man serves up what can only be described as an "outlaw style" of justice.Editorial Reviews:5.0 out of 5 stars City of Champions, By Diane Adams (Branson, MO)(REAL NAME) This review is from: CITY of CHAMPIONS (Kindle Edition)Morgan Cole is a character who is understandably arrogant, yet humble; trained to respond as a machine, yet poignantly human. Once I started this book, the non-stop action yanked me from page to page, desperate to learn the outcome. There were plenty of surprises! All the loose ends were tied up by the last page ... or so I thought!Daniel Stanton is a name to remember as I believe he will quickly become well known for his incredible talent. I'm looking forward to a sequel.4.0 out of 5 stars A good thriller,By wistfulskimmie (Buckfastleigh, UK)This review is from: CITY of CHAMPIONS (Kindle Edition)This is a thriller about an ex military man getting used to life on the 'outside'. He has a job as a private investigator, a woman he loves and he is near his beloved brother. Life couldn't be better. And then his brother is brutally murdered. So begins the search for the killer. The book was quite brutal in places but it was all in context with the story. I really enjoyed the raciness of it and the fact that it grabbed you by the hand and ran with you and didn't let you go until the explosive end. I identified with the characters, I thought they were completely believable. At first some of the actions may seem over the top but in the context of the story they are completely believable. I hope this author carries on in the same vein as I would love to read more of his work. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

On the negative side were the over the top violence, the over the top bad-ass-ness of the hero and the descriptive narration style. I had to skip some pages in every chapter as I am not overly interested to read several pages of description of surroundings (fences, concrete, sidewalk, buidling etc.). That took some of the drive out of the story. Also on the minus side: the strange interpunction. Very, very often three points in direct speach… no comma before or after names in direct speach and some other stuff that made reading it strenous. I am not a native speaker and grammer or spelling errors irk me to no end.
But the worst thing: the hero himself. Bid bad-ass ex-Delta. I didn’t like him. And that more or less ruined the whole thing for me. There is intense violence in this story, and normally I can endure that, but the grade of violence here administered by the „hero“ (including torture) doesn’t do much to endear him to me.
