This was about a soft drink company and its family members. ( )Warm and fuzzy as a Georgia peach, sassy as Carolina Bar-B-Que, Spring Fever is a great summer read--lots of family drama, lies, some sex, and yea a little video tape (at the very end--mind out of the gutter girls!) I do believe Mary Kay Andrews may be the queen of Southern Chick lit! Annajane is finally ready to leave the small town she grew up in, and still lives and works. Her ex-husband is getting remarried and she feels comfortable enough that she attends the wedding and that’s when things start to fall apart. I had no clue what to expect with this book since it was a random pick off the shelf. I loved it! I think I’m a fan of chick-lit as long as it doesn’t get too romance, lovely-dovey. I especially loved Annajane. Finally a strong female character who is going after what she wants and takes her life in control. I also loved that there were other things surrounding the relationships, there were some great twists within the business that they all work for and when I thought I had the story figured out suddenly there’d be another twist! This was also a great book to listen to, easy to follow and kept me wanting to come back and listen to more. If you like chick-lit (Emily Giffin is a great example) you should pick up this book. It is well written and never feels trashy which you tend to get with romance novels. I’d recommend this book for traveling or any other time you’re looking for a nice light read! Not great literature, but fun enough to listen to in the car between destinations. I met the author once, and was totally charmed by her,so it's fun to pick up one of her books occasionally. Also liked the bits fo soft drink company-isms, as I once dated the son of a VP from once of our national chains. The house had the soda logo all over the place. On my first visit, there were a slew of gifts for me with the logo, too: tee shirts, tote bag, pillow, jewlery box, bracelet, earrings, socks... "What? No panties?", I quipped to my boyfriend. His mother looked agast, and his father laughed so hard he snorted his Jim Beam and Name Brand Soda out his nose. I definitely wasn't on their keeper list. Quixie Soft Drink company is the mother company that is owned and operated by the main characters of this light, summer read. For those familiar with CHEER WINE in the Carolinas, I believe, Quixie is similar. SPRING FEVER is about the share owners, their loves and lives. Annajane, formerly married to one of the family shareholders, but still employed by the company, finds herself a little disconcerted when her ex- decides to marry Celia, a new person aboard the family run corporation. New laundry is hung to dry and old dirty laundry is finally aired as this story developes. The characters are believeable as southerners. They would not work in a northeast setting! The plot and story and setting is believeable in a "happily ever after" sort of way. I didn't expect to enjoy it, but was pleasantly surprised. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
