I will probably continue on with the series. Hopefully I will become more invested in the characters as it goes on. I have enjoyed Shelly Crane's writing so I am hopeful this series will pick up for me! ( ) Very unexpected, no way I would have been able to guess how this story would go. I like that Shelly Crane's male and female protagonists' are always so consumed with each other that no on can come between them. As I read I wondered if Clara was just going to dump her boyfriend to go out with Eli but it's not what I expected. Clara's and Tate's relationship did not end in the best of circumstance. I was upset with Clara that she didn't end their relationship sooner, she did what some girls tend to do in her situation, she thought he needed her and she could make everything better by staying in a bad relationship. The setting for this story took place in high school compared to the last book of Crane I read, [b:Significance|11731861|Significance (Significance, #1)|Shelly Crane|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1349644287s/11731861.jpg|16680623], where the characters were college age adults. But the language and theme of Devour is more mature young adult compared to Significance. I also had a different feeling reading this book, while I was grinning from ear to ear reading Significance and swooning, Devour was more intense and I was a bit on edge at what could happen next, no telling what's around the corner for Clara and Eli. I wondered what Eli's supernatural alter ego would be and it definitely wasn't anything I could have guessed. Won't spill. Eli thinks himself a monster but he seemed anything but, he was the hero and protector Clara needed. I really like the soul mate angle between Clara and Eli and no real triangle just folks trying to come between them. This story had depth, negative relationships were explored and how a persons experience can affect how they view themselves and how they behave in their relationships. There were some very toxic people in this book and Clara had to view herself through their eyes and see if she was just as bad as they are for standing by and not doing anything about it. Clara had to become her own person and deal with the negative influences and guilt of not being who her parents want her to be. This was a very good read and an unexpected story. Here is another series by Ms Shelly Crane. I bought this book last night and have finished it already. I have not read one of her books that I have not enjoyed. Clara is has been dating Tate for almost a year. He was there for her when something terrible happens in her life. A new guy shows up at school and she feels strangely attracted to him for some reason. Tate is jealous of any guy that even looks at Clara. He doesn't like that the new guy is there. I'm honestly not sure what else to say without giving anything away! Just read it! :-) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Clara has it all. A wrestling star boyfriend, popular friends, all the right school activities...pretty much a perfect life...up until her parents died. Now she lives with the Pastor and his family and though they take good care of her, she feels alone. Then her boyfriend, Tate, starts to show signs of trouble when a new guy, Eli, comes to town. Clara is fascinated with him but hides it until something happens. Eli confesses to her that she gives him something he's never had before...something he needs. Everything is about to change for this normal pretty popular girl in a supernatural way. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
