Fantasy. Fiction. Science Fiction. HTML:The explosive conclusion to the Newsflesh trilogy from New York Times bestseller Mira Grant — a saga of zombies, geeks, politics, social media, and the virus that runs through them all.
The year was 2014. The year we cured cancer. The year we cured the common cold. And the year the dead started to walk. The year of the Rising.
The year was 2039. The world didn't end when the zombies came, it just got worse. Georgia and Shaun Mason set out on the biggest story of their generation. They uncovered the biggest conspiracy since the Rising and realized that to tell the truth, sacrifices have to be made.
Now, the year is 2041, and the investigation that began with the election of President Ryman is much bigger than anyone had assumed. With too much left to do and not much time left to do it, the surviving staff of After the End Times must face mad scientists, zombie bears, rogue government agencies-and if there's one thing they know is true in post-zombie America, it's this:
Things can always get worse.

A lackluster but not unenjoyable finish to the series. I feel like this was more housekeeping than anything else, basically putting neat bows on all the plot points revealed over the last two books to set up --basically, finding out what we already had figured out in the first two books, if you were paying attention. Not bad, but nothing fantastic.

Another major quibble I have is about having George and Shaun ride into the sunset in their incestuous love affair (yes, I know it's not biological; doesn't matter, incest is not a biological taboo - it's a societal taboo to preserve a family unit, no matter how it's created) and... that's that? Seriously? That's it? Kind of a downer.

I honestly expected better, especially after that bang up tension of that first novel. So, les just say I'm experience a bit of post zombie let down, I guess. Not a bad book, but-- it could have been better, especially if her editor had smacked her when the incest angle came up. ( )

I know we are supposed to be able to suspend disbelief as long as the author makes her internal world consistent. So I should be able to accept that cloning an entire human being and giving her memories from the dead body is possible in this alternate world. But my brain just wouldn’t give up saying that’s not how cloning works. I also have a personal squick against even implied incest. All that having been said, the overall story is plausible and well written enough that I enjoyed it, but frankly I liked that side characters much better than the two main characters ( )

I can't write another this-book-was-so-good-it-freaked-me-out review, so I'll just ask all of you to read and judge for yourself. ( )

Very good. I thought it could have been a bit shorter, there was a lot of running around before we really got down to business, but I did like it quite a bit. ( )

Short version. First book - original, second and third books - fan fiction. End of short version.

Of course it's all subjective. It seems I look at different things that many people. Whatever. What pains me most that all incredibleness and world building that was going throughout the first book in rhythm with the plot was completely gone by the beginning of the second. Everything that followed "Feed" seemed to be build upon the canon of it and was either the repeat (yes, literary!) or cliche variation on a theme. I've seen it all before. I read it all before. There is absolutely nothing that could amaze me in the second or third book.

I've read all three in span of week and after turning final page I can safely say that I only remember "Feed". It was incredible. It was a blast. It was original. ( )

My story ended where so many stories have ended since the Rising: with a man -- in this case, my adoptive brother and best friend, Shaun, -- holding a gun to the base of my skull as the virus in my blood betrayed me, transforming me from a thinking human being into something better suited to a horror movie.
