Polo is a cute little pup who goes on some interesting adventures in the air, on the water, and even in space. As Polo visits a friend, the adventure has just begun and there’s no telling where his transportation will take him next. Follow along with Polo the inquisitive pup to see where his adventure takes him.

This turned out to be different than what we expected. It’s a wordless picture book, but has a graphic novel feel to it and it’s considerably longer than most of the other wordless books we’ve read. The illustrations are very vivid and detailed which keeps you engaged. It’s exciting wondering where Polo will go next and we enjoyed it.

For a kindergarten or first grade class, the children could write their own 1 - 2 sentence captions for each scene in the book. This would allow them to imaginatevly express their interpretations of the book using the visual context clues, while also demonstrating an understanding of the sequence of the story. For a second grade class, the students could write a one page story of based off the book. The students would use the character Polo, but create a new adventure for him to go on. They could provide drawings to go along with the scenes of their story.

This book could be used in a kindergarten classroom as a read aloud. With this books, you could practice asking and answering questions and paying attention to key details. You could ask the students questions about what the character is doing which could cause them to infer. This book could also be used in a second grade classroom as a read aloud. You could show the students the book and tell them to pay close attention to the character. Then you could send students back to their seats and have print outs of the book. The students could then put a story with the pictures to practice their writing skills.
