Informazioni su di meI am married to my high school sweetheart (just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary), a father to one daughter and living in the suburbs of Chicago. I am a sales manager in the publishing industry, specifically selling audiobooks - so a lot of what I "read" is actually in (unabridged) audiobook format (but listening is reading too!).

Dati biblioteca2009 - 50 Book Challenge - Completed 59 Books
2010 - 75 Book Challenge - Completed 121 Books
2011 - 75 Book Challenge - Completed 123 Books
2012 - 75 Book Challenge - Completed 100 Books

Although I initially found LT in 2008, I really only began "using" it in mid-2009 when I began exploring it with my daughter (bookpup). My reading has always been somewhat eclectic - and the more obscure the book, the better - and in general, I tend to lean toward historical fiction, literary fiction and nonfiction as the norm.

I am an avid participant in the 75 Book Challenge and the TIOLI challenges in particular. Through these groups, my wishlist has grown significantly, and I have found that the diversity of my reading lists have expanded as well.

The 13-letter prize is perfect... gave me a good chuckle last night. Thanks!
Used and Rare looks really interesting - I used to have a collection of old books but gave them to a friend of mine who had a much greater interest in collecting than I do (plus I needed the shelf space!). I'll warn you though, I still haven't gotten to my SantaThing books from 2008; I'm terrible about reading my own books. :)
Thanks again.
I have The Ghost and the Goth and Rare and Used. I confess I peeked at the SantaThing page today to see if I should expect a third book, and I'm not sure if it is on its way or not.
Hi Patrick,
Just wanted to say thank you for your SantaThing selections. I just received my second package and am looking forward to digging in to both books. -Mary
Hi Pat. Thanks for keeping an eye on me . . . I guess I need to learn about the wikis, and would appreciate any instructions you are willing to offer.
Thank you for recommending Dissonance to my Santa. I am not quite half way through but I know that I will be rereading this remarkable novel.

Theo
I just wanted to let you know that after reading about it on your thread I immediately went to Better World Books and ordered Santa Claustrophobia for my Advent reading with my 5 year old son. I ordered How Marvin Saved Christmas by the same author for good measure.

Thanks so much for the idea and recommendation!
Nancy
I believe the postcard project goes all year long, so if it occurs to you when you are traveling, that would be amazingly kind. We will take what we can get.

Thanks!
Thanks for the link for your thread. You read some great books! I'll be sure to check in with you on a frequent basis.

I love your review of When the Astors Owned New York.

Somehow, I lost your thread on our 75 challenge group. Can you please send the link to me on my LT home page?

I hope to visit New Port RI again. It is an incredible snapshot of the time that you so accurately describe re. the Guided Age.

Linda
Just a quick note to say thanks for your defence and kind words in the 'pimp your books' thread. I had no idea that I would open up such a powder keg with that comment! You took some shots with your comments and I apologize for that. Hopefully it will die down soon and we can all get back to the business at hand.

Thanks,
Danielle
hee hee- thanks! Actually, I packed up about 1700 books to go to Saudi with me, so this is just a drop in the bucket of books I knew I wouldn't want to read again.
I would love to mooch "The DUFF" if it's still available.
The Apothecary Rose is all yours as well!
The Second Violin is all yours- I listed under my sister's account on BM (smileydq)
I loved them all! I haven't started reading them yet, but I really appreciate the effort you took in selecting them.

thanks for mentioning Death and the Penguin; i hadn't heard of this before, and it definitely looks like something i'd like to read (regardless of whether it turns out to be a santathing gift or not!).
Noticed you liked The Glass Castle, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a dysfunctional family and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to learn a little more about the book before you commit:

I'm so glad you mentioned Dissonance in one of the threads in the 50 States Challenge. I'm reading music-themed books this month, and, since it would also fit the challenge, I picked up a used copy from Amazon. I doubt I would have discovered the book without your mention of it.
