Informazioni su di meI am old enough not to admit my age, but look younger.

I have always loved reading, which is what I do with most of my free time. Now I'm a librarian, so I can count it as "professional development," pretty much no matter what. I'm always looking for more books to add to my toppling TBR pile and expanding my reading more.

When I'm not reading, I enjoy watching sports (football, baseball, and tennis) and knitting. I have a habit of coming up with odd bits of trivia that no one cares about and obscure words make me ridiculously happy.

You can find my 2013 reads here:

Dati bibliotecaI read and own a lot of young adult and fantasy books. I'm a fairly eclectic reader, however, with a fair amount of contemporary fiction, mysteries, and classics thrown into the mix.

About my collections:
Your library includes books I actually own.
To Read is, with few exceptions, books that I own and have not read.
Previously owned includes read books that once were part of my personal library, or books that I started and reviewed. If a book passed through my hands entirely unread, I simply delete it.
Wishlist is books that I want to own; usually they are also in my "Read but Unowned" collection.
School Books are books that are in my mental library but not necessarily representative my tastes, since I read them for college English classes.

About my ratings:
I rate based on how well I liked a book; I refuse to make a judgment about a story's innate worth because I recognize the variety of taste in readers, and even how my own mood can affect what I think when I'm reading. That being said, here's what I mean when I say -
1 star - Forced myself to finish it
2 stars - Dislike
2.5 stars - I really don't know if I liked it or not
3 stars - Sort of liked it; or didn't, but admired something about it despite not liking it
4 stars - I liked it, but probably wouldn't reread unless it's part of a series
4.5 stars - Excellent, ultimately a satisfying read, a title I would consider rereading
5 stars - A book that I absolutely loved, would absolutely reread, and just all-around floored me

I very rarely finish a book I would rate lower than a 3, so my ratings are skewed positively. I can generally scale how much I liked a book, but I'm less consistent about how much I didn't like it.

PS: Didn't expect it to be so *funny* from reading the script
I really wanted to love the olivier one but found him too mannered + stagey after modern films (the 1940s Henry V all the way though) Missed Mckellern in cinemas cos I thought nazis was a cheap gimmick, but was thrilled by his performance. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Just read your Richard III review with interest, stopping by to pimp the Ian "gandalf" McKellern film version of the play. Try your public library. They costumed it in 1930s-wear which I thought was gimmicky, but it's a revelation, funny, dynamic and poss the best shakespeare film I've seen.
I feel the same way. Have you read Three Times Lucky. This book rec'd. a Newbery honor. Truly, in my opinion it was so much better than The One and Only Ivan.

Honestly, I feel that the Newbery award committee made a decision to vote for political correctness, ie saving animals.

Good to chat with you. Are you liking your new environment? I love your book cases!
I finished The One and Only Ivan. Your review is wonderful!
If you're looking for another Stephen King experience, maybe try Different Seasons. With the exception of its last story, the other three in this collection steer clear of the horror genre and were later made into movies: "Apt Pupil", "Stand By Me" and "The Shawshank Redemption". People are often surprised to discover he was the author behind those stories.
